When taken for oil changes, no oil is left on stick and motor will lock and cut off. I have to restart the car to get it to turn on.
This complaint was originally sent to the state of nj dept. Of consumer affairs. They forwarded this complaint to nhtsa with complaint #1574092; referral packet for 24366900. Ocp crm:0446121. While i was driving, the vehicle’s engine ceased working, causing me to lose control of my vehicle’s power steering. I was on a busy state highway but i managed to pull the vehicle into a parking lot. I then called my father, he arranged for aaa to have the vehicle towed to my auto repair shop. The next day, i was informed by my auto machanic that the engine had failed but that the vehicle had a safety recall from the manufacturer. I was surprised that it was a total engine failure since i did not have any warning that something was wrong with the vehicle nor did i ever receive a safety recall notice from kia. I called kia’s customer service to inquire about the safety recall on this vehicle but i was told this vehicle did not qualify under kia’s safety recall because the recommended repairs required for the safety recall to be valid, we’re never performed. I explained that i had never received a safety recall notice; therefore, i was not aware of required repairs. The customer service representative said a safety recall notice was sent to every vehicle owner. When i asked, how was this notice sent? What address was this notice sent to? The customer service representive told me that kia did not send the safety recall notice; therefore, there was no record of how the notice was sent or where it was sent. How can i be responsible for a safety related repair if i never received the notice informing me the repair was necessary to ensure the safety of the vehicle occupants which include my infant great granddaughter! This vehicle has only been inspected my mechanic, not by any other party; the vehicle is currently at my auto repair shop & can be inspected during normal business hours. Thank you for your help in this matter. I can reached via phone, text or email.
Took care in for recall sc176 and was told by taylor kia in lima, oh that what was happ wasn't throwing a code. Said they fixed the knock sensor and that if it is that problem it would go off and they could check it again. My car ran worse than before getting it back. What is happening to my engine is exactly what is detailed in the recall. I drove home 35 minutes shacking and knocking the whole time and no engine light? You can hear the rod knocking in my engine. Exactly how it is explained in the recall. So, now i'm stuck with an engine that going to be ruined when the rod does flys out. Hopefully not harming me or anyone else. This is ludicrous and poor work done.
Broken coupler. They want 2800 dollars to fix.
My 2013 Kia Soul 1.6L is currently displaying a check engine light. My vehicle has very strong smelling exhaust, engine knocking, sluggish acceleration, and reduced fuel mileage. This has been going on for about a year. I have a diagnostic code reader and it returns the error code P0420, which indicates a faulty catalytic converter, which could cause engine damage. There is a recall for the catalytic converter for my year and engine type. I received a letter in the mail regarding this recall. The link to the letter: https://static.nhtsa.gov/odi/rcl/2019/RCRN-19V120-5117.pdf However, when I enter my VIN at the KIA owners portal this recall does not come up. I have contacted my local Kia Dealership (Johnson City KIA) and they act like they have no idea what I am talking about. I have called Kia customer care center and they refused to help, saying that the recalls are "VIN specific". That's ridiculous. If the recall covers my year make and model then the VIN shouldn't mean crap.
Mdps coupler worn and causing steering wheel instability and noise when driving over 60 mph. There was a recall previously that i wasn't aware of but my car had not yet experienced the problem. I am experiencing it now, but kia says i must fix at my own cost since the recall period is passes, though i didn't have the issue then or recieve the notice.
On Saturday, [XXX], I was driving from Daytona Beach to our home in Melbourne, Florida. The time was about [XXX]. The weather was characterized by strong and constant rain for the first 25 minutes of our trip home. The next day I noticed many areas on the roof and the rear driver's side quarter-panel where the paint had de-laminated. Our insurer denied a claim of weather related paint failure. Since then, I have examined scores of claims regarding premature paint failure on Kia vehicles. The descriptions of the paint de-lamination, as well as the proffered photos are/were identical to the paint failure on my Kia Soul. The passenger's side of the vehicle was repaired .and repainted following a 2022 deer strike in South Carolina. That whole repainted area was totally unaffected by the strong rain storm experienced on [XXX]. Only the original Kia factory applied paint exhibited multiple de-lamination failures. The paint designation is '1D'. Kia needs to steps up and take appropriate responsibility for the failures of their paint finishes. This vehicle is mostly garage kept. My wife and I are retired and this vehicle is always at home unless we are on an errand or Doctor's appointment. My car has been at the kia service center since october 5, 2024, on a manufacturer recall, and since then another recall has been added, on the day the service center received my car i was number 11, in line with the recall vehicles, i have been put in hardship because kia has not honored the recall in ample time, lost of job opportunities , stress, getting back and forth with appointments, i strongly feel as though i have been discriminated against, i receive no updated status about my car, and strongly feel, that my recall is being tossed to the side, i have contacted the nhtsb about this matter, loss wages, loss job opportunities, and stress have been placed on me from the kia service center in trussville alabama, kia have failed to comply with the recall and have had ample time to remedies the problem.
TO WHOM IT MAY CONCERN: I am writing to notify you of the problems I have experienced with my (2022, KIA, SOUL, VIN - [XXX] ) and to request that you kindly check in on this problem within thirty (30) days of your receipt of this letter. I purchased my vehicle from (REED NISSAN OF CLERMONT) on or about [XXX]. Approximately (3 MONTHS) I began having trouble with (WITH THE ENGINE BURNING A LOT OF OIL AND HAD TO PUT OIL IN IT IN BETWEEN CHANGES, which I have had a 2015 Kia Soul so I was used to this). I have taken my vehicle for the proper amount of oil changes on 12/12/23(first oil change and the oil was black when I went), 1/30/24, 4/8/24, 5/28/24, 7/20/24, and 10/8/24. On the last oil change my car was about 60,284 miles and they found a small oil leak at that point they told me to call kia that it should be under warranty. Kia said there was nothing they could do. While I was trying to figure out what to do and continuing to check my oil which stayed at good levels my engine failed on the highway at 61,104 miles. This is not a very old engine to be failing and kia motors are known to do this. As, of now I know there is no known recalls, but there have been for all other kia souls in the previous years. I would like an investigation into the failure of my engine. This problem of the failure of my engine has cost me $9,826.55 and being the second owner of this vehicle I had no warranty past the 60,000-mile warranty(which I was not aware of until I called kia) and since I feel the problem existed before I even purchased this car I would like my case to be considered under a warranty or some help from KIA. I also feel the car was not inspected properly before being sold as a certified used car. Please contact me on receipt of this letter at the above email or telephone number to arrange a mutually convenient date and time for you to have an opportunity to discuss what can be done to help make this right.
