On november 23, 2024, the brakes gave out on my 2017 kia forte5 ex. I found several recalls for my car regarding the brakes, trunk, engine and airbags. However, my son was in an accident and i was unaware of any recalls, as the car was purchased used. Would i still be able to get my car repaired under these recalls, or do i need to contact kia?
The vehicle has 20k miles and just shut down while going 40 miles per hour. It just turned off. There were no codes or warning lights. The dealership said they had could not find anything wrong and though they suspected what was wrong they could not prove it and so could not get reimbursed for the repair and wouldn’t do it. Why does a new car shut off while going to miles per hour, that is scary to drive. If it happens at the wrong place or time i and others could be in danger.
At 60,000 miles the engine began knocking and recently the engine blew through the bottom and cracked.
The contact owns a 2018 kia forte. The contact stated while driving 55 mph, the engine was running unusually rough. The oil warning light was illuminated. In addition, the engine seized. The vehicle was restarted and driven to the residence. The vehicle was taken to the dealer where it was diagnosed with engine failure. The contact was informed that the engine needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The contact stated that the vehicle had been taken to the dealer two days prior to the failure and the dealer confirmed there were metal shavings in the oil pan. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 163,000.
The car is making a noise that we finally found out it was the hood rattling. Took it to the shop and the hood latch looks to be secure, and non=adjustable. Was told that the rubber adjustable hood bumpers are too short, however the dealer said that they are correct, but agreed they can't be adjusted anymore to eliminate the noise. This gives us great safety concern that the hood is not property secured, or has a defective latch, in addition to the constant noise that the dealer said they will only address within the first 12 months or 12k miles.
This car was sold to me without disclosing that the manufacture failed to have a engine security system on the car to at least "deter" auto theft. If the key to the car was programmed/chipped like other cars, it would provide at least some level of protection. I've already stopped car thieves from trying to steal it once by pure luck, but i'm like the thousands out there constantly worried that someone's going to try to take it in lieu of the social media challenges. The horrible settlement that out government gave us was to upgrade the software which provides no help with deterring thieves from breaking in and trying to steal it. The reimbursement provided in the settlement is complete joke, and doesn't offer to properly repair or reimburse for after-market security systems. This is evident from the fact that insurance companies still won't insure this car, even after the software upgrade. The insurance companies are telling me that they still won't insure the car even with upgrade because it doesn't stop thieves from breaking into the car and causing comprehensive damage to the car. I can only find a few insurance companies that will insure the car, and the premium cost is twice as much as i pay to insure a car that's worth twice as much money! If our government or nhtsa was truly concerned, they would have demanded that the manufacture make significant change to the ignition/engine starter, i. E. , changing out the ignition switch system with a programmed/chipped key, and/or engine starter kill without said key. If the manufacture and the government made this change a required "recall" to properly fix and advertised it nationwide, then thieves would at least be less inclined to cause damage, and insurance companies would feel more comfortable about taking the risk. This ongoing expense/problem for me has me seriously considering if anyone in my family should every purchase another kia/hyundai product again. Stand behind your product with some integrity.
Headlights shut off while driving at night. The right turn signal was on and was in a right hand turn when the car hit a small dip. There was the sound that you hear when you turn on the key when the car hit the dip and the healights went off. After pulling off the road and turning on the hazard lights, tried turning the headlights off then back on several times. The parking lights seem to come on then went off. Noticed that the information screen reset and was at the setup screen. Turned the car off then restarted the car and the headlights turned on. On the freeway the tone you hear when you turn on the key sounded several times as the car went over the bumps at the overpasses where the road is subsiding. This is a rental car. No police report made. No information if problem occurred previously or if rental company had problem looked into. Problem occurred 11/16/2024
The switch needed to be replaced by kia in prescott valley because it was a recall, they replaced my switch, and a few weeks later now my airbag light is on and they no longer work, and they won't take care of it, the lady proceeded to tell me they didn't replace the switch when i have the proof that they did indeed do it, and now my airbags no longer work, if i get into an accident because they messed it up and my airbags no longer work i will have a lawsuit against them for not wanting to take care of a recall they couldn't do right in the first place.
The left rear blinker light has gone out 4 times in the last 2 years. The most recent replacement for the passenger rear blinker stopped working within 12 hours of replacement. No other lights have needed replacing until the last replacment blinker light had gone out and i became aware that both passenger running tail lights were out, my license plate light on the passenger side is out the white bottom light that's blinks when i lock the car with the key remote is out as well. When looking into what would cause this to happen i came a cross information that is an on going issue that keeps occurring in the same cars with the same make model and year that a recall should or is expected to be done. I have not paid for bulbs to be replaced it's a task car owners can perform now that all lights are not working i will be taking it in to get my vehicle working so it can be driven safely.
I was driving the forte and my steering wheel started to feel loose. It would click when i turned it. When i would go over a speed bump or hit a pot hole, my steering would jolt and make a loud noise. While driving on the highway, steering seemed loose and wasn't stable. I drove slower because i was afraid the problem would become worse or i would lose control of the steering. B
