When driving down interstate five in san diego, my vehicle decided that it wanted to come to a screeching halt suddenly as the forward collision system activated randomly, causing my neck to jolt and a distill in pain. I had no idea what was going on, but in order to try to get out of the way of traffic, i quickly tried to override what the system was doing after coming to a complete stop, then the accelerator stuck getting the vehicle going over 100 mph. The hybrid system only shut down the gas engine, but the electric was still propelling the vehicle to go forward. I had to hit the button to turn the vehicle to gas only and shift into neutral in order for the vehicle to finally stop getting below 100 miles per hour to where i could safely pull over to the side of the road. I called jeep and they laughed.

2019 jeep cherokee with only 35,000 miles. There was a recall previously for lateral acceleration sensors that covered over 40,000 2019 cherokees. This vehicle is affected with the same problem, but i’m being told that because the vin doesn’t fall in a particular range it is not covered. The repair could end up being extremely expensive due to the labor required to repair the defective sensor. The car displays multiple warnings that electronic stability control and 4wd are unavailable. Codes pulled revealed one fault code, c0061 which is for the lateral acceleration sensor which also is tied into the airbag system. Recall v63 (nhtsa 19v-449) issued in august 2019 is related to this exact issue. There are numerous reports of the same problem occurring with other 2019 jeep cherokees on jeep owner forums. Jeep should have expanded the recall to cover this known defect.

Major down shifting hesitation when slowing down and then trying to accelerate. Very noticeable and dangerous when slowing down and turning. The hesitation is also noticeable when starting to go up an incline and trying to accelerate. In cruise control there is a delay when going up an incline the set speed will go down 3 mph before shifting hard. Transmission also when shifting from forward to reverse or reverse to forward will engage then pop out of gear for a few seconds then engage again. During normal operation there is no popping out of gear. The dealer has applied three software updates with no improvement to the shifting problems.
