Increasingly the transmission, when cold, was experiencing difficulty shifting between 3-4-5 and not shifting into 9-10. When the weather started reaching zero degrees overnight, the vehicle was reluctant to move and, once it began moving, would not shift out of 1st. After allowing the vehicle to warm up, it would reluctantly shift from 3-4-5 and then, without any speed reduction, suddenly downshift with a shudder and bang. Vehicle is in the ford dealer while they preform the tsb related to this universally known problem with the 10r80 transmission. Despite the tsb “approving” significant part replacements, including clutches, modules and converter, the dealer is required to proceed a few steps at a time and then test the vehicle to document the need to replace more components, before proceeding the the tsb. Ford is avoiding what should be a full recall involving providing the dealers with a rebuilt transmission and converter with the dealer’s responsibility only being the replacement of the transmission. Ford’s dealing with this very well know problematic transmission with a tsb is grossly unfair to the dealers and exceedingly unfair to the consumers who eventually bear the financial burden.
Truck has noticeable hard shifts into reverse and drive. Sometimes searching for gear while accelerating.
Truck cut off at an intersection without warning and would not turn back over. After multiple attempts and aaa service members checking batter car would not start. Has power but will not turn over dealership is saying there is a module issue but is not sure.
I was in an area that had received snow and cold temperatures. I started my car to warm it up and began cleaning off the snow. The heat from the rear defroster caused my read window to shatter leaving glass mostly on the exterior of the truck bed but also in the back seat. This is a known problem with ford model trucks and they refuse to repair the issue or replace my window.
The contact owns a 2021 Ford Ranger. The contact stated that while driving at various speeds, the vehicle hesitated and jerked while depressing the accelerator pedal. The contact stated that at first there were no warning lights illuminated; however, after a while the "Power Train Malfunction - Reduced Power" message was displayed. The dealer and an independent mechanic were notified of the failure and acknowledge that the defect was a common failure. The contact was provided an estimate for a new transmission. The manufacturer was also notified of the failure and the contact was offered financial assistance if the vehicle was serviced by a Ford dealer. The vehicle was not repaired. The failure mileage was approximately 37,000.
The rear seats in the 2024/2025 ford raptor ranger are connected to the rear of the cab via a single latch. The single latch does not always latch. I noticed it had failed to properly latch the next day when i was installing my car seats. I figured it was user error, but than i re-tested it and struggled to properly latch it. The danger is the rear portion of the seat could suddenly fold forward during a hard break or accident, resulting in serious injury to rear passengers.
The contact owns a 2019 ford ranger. The contact stated while his wife was driving from a complete stop and releasing the accelerator pedal, the vehicle continued to accelerate unintendedly until the brake pedal was depressed. The contact stated the vehicle experienced hard shifts from first gear to third gear. The contact stated that the transmission was slipping while driving in the higher gears. Additionally, the contact stated while attempting to drive from a complete stop on a hill, the vehicle rolled backwards upon depressing the accelerator pedal, nearly causing a crash. The driver turned off and restarted the vehicle, and shifted into drive(d), and the vehicle responded as needed. There was no warning light illuminated. The vehicle was taken to the dealer, where the transmission fluid was replaced; however, the failure got progressively worse. The vehicle was taken back to the dealer, where it was diagnosed and determined that the transmission had failed and needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure and a case was filed; however, no further assistance was provided. The failure mileage was approximately 85,000.
The blend door for hvac controls sticks, makes clicking noises. From time to time it will stick in one position, for example cabin, when i need defrost, making it difficult to see safely potentially.
Transmission 10r80, 10 speed. Had hard shifting, 1st to 2nd gear, excessive engine rpm in 1st gear then dropping hard into 2nd causing tire squawk. Hesitation in power after hard shift causing loss of acceleration, dangerous in heavy traffic. No warning lights and no fault codes produced. Warranty time period expired mid june 2024. Mileage at 52236 was under 60000 limit. Ford dealership refused to cover any costs. Complaints filed with ford motor company twice. Corp refused any support or compensation. Vehicle was taken to independent certified mechanic who verified the problems. Mechanic followed ford technical bulletins to make repairs. Three separate steps in the repair process produced no favorable results. Transmission had to be removed and rebuilt with ford factory oem parts. Several parts replaced were of new design, indicating ford knows of the problems and is attempting to redesign the transmission, but not supporting customers out of warranty. Since this was our only vehicle a rental was needed for two weeks while the repair process was followed per ford technical bulletins. Total cost of repairs $7301. 82 for vehicle 2 months out of warranty with less than 53000 miles. Also having problems with the sync system that the dealership also refused to even test at no charge. Since we did not feel safe with this vehicle, nor did it seem reliable, we traded the truck in for a nissan. We are seeking reimbursement for all costs of repairs and rental cars. Ford needs to issue a recall and reimburse customers regardless of miles and warranty expirations. I have receipts for all expenditures and all parts removed and replaced on/in the transmission. Documents can be supplied upon request.
