  • Date of Incident: Aug-12, 2022
  • Date complaint filed: Sep-04, 2024
  • Failed components: ENGINE and FUEL/PROPULSION SYSTEM

Engine has began making lots of noises such as ticking and banging. Loss of power when driving the vehicle, extremely high fuel consumption resulting in maybe 10mpg with an 2. 7 eco boost engine. Every start up of the vehicle results in large clouds of blue smoke emitting from the exhaust. I believe my engine is having the same failure as the new recall and my vehicle shall be included even though it’s a 2017. Why is mine not included when all the signs are pointing to the exact same issue. For the exact same engine

Cruising highway speeds, when accelerator is pressed to gain speed, make a pass, ect the transmission downshifts into 3rd gear, engine losses all power for 4-8 seconds while accelerator is held down. I’ve almost been in several accidents due to expecting a vehicle to accelerate and nothing happening and traffic

I was driving down the road 8/17/2024, and the wrench came on, i thought i would drive a few miles to my house and then tow to dealer, but the transmission line broke and pumped out all the transmission oil and the truck shifted into neutral or and the transmission was destroyed. The truck lost power to the wheels. Dealership said transmission was destroyed. Only the dealership inspected the parts. The wrench came on 3 miles before the truck lost power.

Transmission shits radically, jumps gears going either up or down shifting. Randomly goes into neutral regardless or terrain, more pronounced on elevation. Violently shakes at times during shifting. Safety concern to myself, passengers, and other motorists when the vehicle randomly shifts into neutral particularly on elevated roads. In addition random inability to accelerate in tight driving conditions. Random hard shifting creating risk of whiplash it has been reported to ford motor company case # cxh-02536679-z5b2m8. It has been at local dealership two times with an appointment to go back no inspections at this time no warning signals initially but now are receiving warnings

We have purchased this vehicle as a used vehicle and shortly after we purchase, the check engine light came on. We were advised to replace some solenoid(s) on the engine but that did not address the issue. The technician advised that we can continue replacing parts in the engine that would total around $3000 but there is no guarantee that it will address the issue and the most common fix they had was to replace the engine as this seems to be a common problem around f150 owners. We have received a second opinion from a local ford dealership and they recommended replacing the engine as well which we ended up doing.

-10r80 transmission began malfunctioning at 86,000 miles. Per ford dealer, the shift strategy was cleared which did not resolve issue. Internal transmission failure was suspected and transmission was replaced. -from a complete stop, the truck would not want to shift from 1st to 2nd gear unless driver let off the gas causing unnecessary risk. From there, truck would shift extremely hard while under acceleration. Additionally, there were instances where truck would not downshift while slowing down to a stoplight. Truck remained in 7th gear at the green light and could only be moved by switching truck to manual shift. -issue was verified by an independent shop along with a local ford dealer. -unsure if the component has been inspected by manufacturer as it was replaced by them. -no engine lights, codes, or other symptoms.
