My 2015 Ford Engine recently had engine failure. Came out of the blue. Had just undergone recall at ford dealership in Norwood, MA weeks before failure. Had just received inspection sticker weeks before failure. No warning lights came on. Suddenly started having white gray smoke coming from exhaust. Car not running properly. Smell from engine. Spoke with mechanic who said to have it towed not to drive it. Diagnosed with engine failure. Has approximately 103,000 miles on it. One owner. Routine maintenance. No issues with the car. Just noticed there is a recall in 2021-2022 Ford Edges with 2.7 choose engine. Sounds like my car. I have read and heard from several mechanics that this is a known problem with the Edge in particular. Would be interested in some feedback. This is a devastating expense and if this is a common theme I think Ford should be held responsible. I would appreciate a response. Thank you.

Transmission assembly lost ability to operate in reverse. This happened while attempting to reverse in a public area. I had enough turn radius to get around an obstruction and drive home. While driving home, the vehicle shuttered under acceleration. There were intermittent delays in acceleration also. The vehicle would not reverse out of driveway the next day. Reverse camera engaged, but no movement. The vehicle the illuminated a message of “shift sys fault. Service required”. I had the vehicle towed to a repair facility for inspection. The master ase certified technician found that the fluid smelled burned, but there was not excessive metal shavings in fluid. He determined that the transmission had an internal failure and recommended replacement of transmission. This transmission has 123,000 miles on it. Transmission fluid was manually drained and filled at 119,500 with the manufacturer’s recommended “motorcraft mercon ulv automatic transmission fluid #xt12qulv”. I am having the transmission replaced at a cost of $5000. I have owned this vehicle since 108,000 miles.

2018 ford escape titanium with ecoboost. Zero problems until 66,000 miles when the coolant started leaking into the spark plugs and cylinder 2 started misfiring. I was told i would need to replace the engine at $8,000 cost. Steve's car care had an email about this issue. Apparently, ford knows about it. This is an issue that should definitely be a recall fix by ford.

Transmission is acting up. Erratic shifts. Car stumbles as accelerating. Seems to be a lot of complaints about this. Only fix is a new transmission for a considerable amount of money.

Faulty engine design leads to head gasket failure, engine misfire and stall. Engine stall can cause loss of vehicle motive and braking by loss of vacuum assisted braking. Dealer just completed service on this vehicle and reported the failure after completing repair on another defective part, the flexplate assembly. After completing repairs advised it likely has coolant intrusion issue. Did not inform customer about the TSB showing FORD determined the block is defective and should be replaced at customer cost. Ford has known about this issue since about 2011. These engines need to be recalled. Repair data available to mechanics and on popular video sites show that Fords updated block removes two water paths that interfere with head gasket seating on 2015 - 2019 Ford Edge 2.0L EcoBoost engines. This is a known manufacturer defect that puts owners and occupants in uneeded danger due to Ford's refusal to recall and rectify these engines. There are multiple reports of these engines failing for this issue with as few as 30,000 miles. This engine is also installed in multiple other Ford and Lincoln vehicles including focus, fusion, taurus, Escape, edge, mkz, mkc, and nautilus.

I have a 2024 ford edge sel. The issue is the the driver front and passenger front head rests. The head rest is only adjustable up to down, not forward or back. The current position of the head rest with the seat in normal upright driving position forces your head into your chest and you are looking at the floor with no neck support. There is no position to adequately support your head and neck with the current headrest. It is tilted too far forward toward the windshield. Dealer confirmed. Dealer looked it over and said this is how its made. No warnings. Just the position of the headrest appears to be tilted extraordinarily too far forward. High potential for injury in a crash. What i'd like to see is an alternate headrest to alleviate the angle the current one poses upon the drive rand passenger.

The mechanic that inspected the car after it broke down said that the ecoboost 2. 0 has an issue that the engine cracks or something like that allowing coolant or whatnot to get into the spark plugs. I think i explained that. The car now needs an engine. With 83000 miles. I’m sure this could cause a fire.
