I bought my used 2022 chevy bolt euv on march 16, 2024 from a chevy dealer. It was a certified pre-owned vehicle. It had only 4,000 miles on it. The chevy dealer informed me that the latest diagnostic software had been installed per a recall to keep the hight voltage battery from overcharging and that the car will only charge to 80%. But after i have driven the car for 6,214 miles (10,000 km), the car will automatically allow a 100% charge. The car now has 12,000 miles on it and still will not charge to 100%. My bolt was recalled per gm recall n242470160 and nhtsa 24v-812 to fix this problem. The new software was installed on dec 20, 2024 and the car will only charge to 80%. When i asked the chevy service consultant when i can charge my car to 100%, he didn't know and thought the info was in my recall letter or in the n242470160 document. There is nothing in both documents about when the car will charge to 100%. This is a major error by gm and the nhtsa. After the new sw was installed, the service technician wrote on my invoice, "most likely the vehicle will reset to 100% after all criteria is met for the high voltage power control module 2 (hpcm2) and the battery energy control module (becm)". Nobody knows what that criteria is. And how would the bolt owner know when the criteria has been met? This 'charge to 100%' issue is very frustrating!
This is in reference to gm recall number: 13036 - i noticed that from time to time the service traction warning comes on, service esc warning comes on, my cruise control stops working suddenly. I didn't think anything of it until i finally noticed my brake lights were illuminated in my back window without my foot being on the brake pedal. I replaced the sensor on the brake pedal hoping that would fix it and it did not. I looked up my vin for active recalls and for some reason it's saying there are none. This is clearly the recall that is listed. I'm worried i'll be driving and someone may either rear end me or get confused thinking i'm braking when i am not. Very unsafe. I'm just unsure what to do. Any help would be appreciated as i need a vehicle and can't be without one.
Cold weather random single quiet chime heard over radio. Random times no duplicating. Sometimes at stop light with brake pressed it will chime once. Other time as you take off from stop sign single quiet chime heard. Other times as you are driving it will do this. Only factor is that is when its cold outside. Vehicle drives fine and no lights on dash indicating an issue. Roads clear no snow or ice. Cleaned all 3 cameras and still same issue when cold outside. Not sure if this is affecting any safety features on vehicle or not or something chevy needs to address in an update to fix. I am not the only one with this issue as i have read a lot on facebook posts and internet forums for this
Oil consumption issues
I bought a new chevy equinox ev on 12/13/24. The day i bought the car, i found that while driving home on interstates and other roads listed by gm as mapped for supercruise, the system will work for a few minutes, then cut out. There is no warning in advance of this shutdown. When all this happens the car immediately brakes in the middle of traffic and loses steering control, red lights go off, and the driver must quickly assume control to prevent a crash. After it happens, the car pops up a message that the acc is also unavailable. Then another message that forward collision detection is also unavailable, at which point the whole supercruise system shuts down until the car is turned off and restarted, and then the whole cycle is repeated. This even happened once in the middle of an automated lane change. It's extremely dangerous. I brought in to the dealer service the following monday, 12/16/24. The dealer service dept. Confirmed the problem and contacted gm, which responded that they were aware of the problem and had engineers working on it. They would not provide any timeline for when a fix would be available, but looking online, this problem has continued for many months with no solution. It apparently does not affect all cars, but there are plenty of reports online of cars that it does affect.
We purchased a 2016 Chevy Equinox with a 2.4 eco-tech engine in September 2023 for approximately $14,000 and 95,000 miles. In September 2024, our vehicle seemed to malfunction at a gas station. When my husband attempted to turn the car on, it sputtered and several different lights lit up the dashboard. The car wouldnt start and we had to have it towed. The shop informed us the next day that there was zero oil in the car and our engine had blown. This was extremely shocking to us as we had zero issues prior to this and had our oil and tires changed within the last month. Upon their inspection, they stated no oil in the car. We told them we had recently had it changed at an oil shop. A shop employee then informed us there were known issues with this type of engine and we should look into it. Upon further research, we discovered this engine had indeed experienced issues over the past several years. A lawsuit was apparently settled regarding the 2010-2013 vehicles and 2014-2017 were now also experiencing issues. There is a class action lawsuit going on in a southern state as well. I contacted the MN OIG office and they advised we file a complaint here. We still owed approximately 9,000$ when this happened. I contacted GM support at 866-366-2273 on 10/7 and spoke with rep Jasmine and supervisor Rochelle. They advised they cannot open a case for me unless I pay to have the car towed to a GM approved dealer and pay for a diagnostic. They stated it’s possible but not likely that I would receive any assistance due to the power train warranty am expiring at 60,000 miles. I advised I cannot afford to pay to have it towed a 3rd time and diagnosed again just in the hope they would be able to help. Prior to this happening, we did not experience any issues with the vehicle and it wasn’t indicating there were any issues (there were no lights on to show something wasn’t functioning properly).
I repeatedly get a “reduced power to engine” alert on my dash which causes my car to decelerate and i lose my power steering. This last time, the alert popped up on my dash, my car decelerated, and then my brakes would not work. I could not push the brake down to stop my car and ended up in a ditch. My brakes are now hard and i cannot start my car because of it. I have already had the recall for this issue fixed in the past but this will be the 3rd time i have brought my vehicle in for the same problem. I had diagnostic codes ran on my car soon after the accident happened and have attached the pictures to this form.
The contact owns a 2020 chevrolet malibu. The contact stated that while driving approximately 65 mph, the message "transport mode" was suddenly displayed, and the vehicle decelerated and stalled. After restarting the vehicle, the failure persisted. The vehicle was taken to the local dealer who serviced the throttle body, but the vehicle was not fixed. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The failure mileage was 180,000.
Good afternoon I hope everyone is well. This complaint I'm filing for Turbocharger/Supercharger A under boost condition (P0299) with my daughters 2018 Chevy Equinox. When you research this error with Chevy/GM vehicles you'll see this impacts all vehicles, but Chevy/GM is only recalling their vehicles from 2022+. I've spoken with numerous auto mechanics throughout the United States, and every auto mechanic has stated this is an issue that impacts all Chevy and GM vehicles. Both Chevy and GM are deceiving everyone and there's a significant issue that requires Chevy and GM should address.
Driving on gas on the highway, the adaptive cruise control suddenly disabled with a "reduced propulsion" message on the dash and a check engine light. The car started struggling in its propulsion. We found an autozone and scanned the codes, and multiple were returned. A google search pointed us to the "walk home" fuse, which indeed had been blown. Replacing that fuse and disconnecting/reconnecting the battery eliminated the errors. Less than a week later during highway driving (the next time the battery charge was used up and it switched to the ice) i got another check engine light, but this time without the "reduced propulsion" message. Scanning at autozone again revealed a p0404 message referencing the egr valve. Due to the limited availability of the part i have called into covert bastrop (bastrop, tx) and am waiting to hear back on their ability to fix the car.
